Malcolm Smith Consulting was engaged to consider the further subdivision of a rural property that has been progressively subdivided since the early 2000’s. Malcolm Smith was involved in the earlier subdivisions, and the owners were keen to maintain the relationship, and knowledge of the issues at hand.

The exercise involved a number of issues relating to the poor definition of the underlying land parcels and the option of effecting a rationalisation of the same without requiring a standard RMA resource consent to subdivide (using s226 RMA). We were successful with this option, and the rationalisation was completed quite simply and effectively.
